Ballet Technique

Students in Level 1 are young, dedicated dancers working to master the basic ballet positions, the progression of a standard ballet barre, and advancing their French vocabulary. The student moves into intermediate center work, away from the support of the ballet barre.

As the student learns the ballet technique appropriate for each level, and when the student’s body has become strong enough to accomplish the movements taught, the student moves to the next level where more intricate steps and combinations are introduced. Placement and advancement is based on ability, not age.

Acting & Creative Movement

Here dancers blend theatrical storytelling, ballet foundations, and musicality, allowing young dancers to explore characters, emotions, and narrative through movement and pantomime. Rooted in Balanchine’s dynamic approach and Marcia Dale Weary’s structured training, the class emphasizes posture, fluidity, and expressive dance. Students develop acting skills through movement, using gestures and facial expressions to bring stories to life, all while honing rhythm, timing, and ensemble teamwork through partner work and interactive games.
